Diseñadores de Montreal como Just Ta Design, Diodati, Wizemen, Théroux y Pascal Labelle presentaron sus últimas creaciones. La marca Théroux realmente llamó mi atención. La primera vez que leí 'Inspirado en los asilos psiquiátricos del siglo pasado' tenía curiosidad y la verdad quedé sorprendido. Me preguntaba cómo la moda moderna se puede combinar con los asilos psiquiátricos. Entiendo que esta combinación es un gran reto. La principal razón por la que fui a ver el desfile de moda era para descubrir la colección Théroux.

La colección combina el pasado y los tiempos modernos por la reinvención de la camisa de fuerza. El diseñador detrás de la colección de Théroux, Amélie Théroux, transforma el look streetwear. Ella explora la rigidez de texturas y movimientos coaccionados que los pacientes de estas instituciones. La impresión sin terminar en la ropa crea una brecha de un recuerdo del pasado que necesita ser contado. Estamos siendo testigos de la trascendencia de la materialidad limitada que pasa a través de la imaginación colectiva de estos lugares atemporales y misteriosos.

I had the pleasure to be a part of the first edition of The Montreal Men's Fashion Festival - Just for Him.

Montreal designers such as Just Ta Design, Diodati, Wizemen, Théroux and Pascal Labelle presented their latest creations. In addition, some of the city’s most active retailers involved in men's fashion: Tristan, Tom Tailor, Karv, Jean Paul Forin and XOOS also displayed this season’s designs.

The Théroux brand really captured my attention. The first time I read 'Inspired from psychiatric asylums of the last century' regarding the concept behind the Théroux collection, I was curious but mostly surprised. I wondered how modern fashion can be combined with the psychiatric asylums looks. I understand that this combination is a big challenge. The main reason I went to see the fashion show was to discover the Théroux collection.

The collection combines the past and the modern times by reinventing the straitjacket. The designer behind the Théroux collection, Amélie Théroux, transforms the streetwear look. She explores the rigidity of textures and coerced movements which the patients at these institutions were exposed to. The unfinished printing on clothing creates a gap of a memory from the past that needs to be told. We are witnessing the transcendence of the limited materiality that passes through the collective imagination of these timeless and mysterious places.
